A Cry Out for Old School!!!

My holiday season isn’t filled with the usual heartwarming movies of Christmas past. After I received a not so welcomed announcement about a game-changer from Technics, I could only wish that there was a “Ghost of Christmas Past.”  Man, some of you need to take trip to “back-in-the day” to appreciate the art and talent of the DJ. Ok I’m down for the advancement of technology…well, in some areas that is. Since there  isn’t a license that you need to obtain before you walk into a club and say,  “Wud up, I’m a DJ”, then anyone with an  iTunes card can rock a party. The stamp on Technics (name of table) will allow for your lil brother, niece,  nephew, and sis to be a  DJ.

DJing equipment manufacturer, Technics, have just unveiled their latest turntable – a CD-less, USB-less and vinyl-less deck that just sits there.  WTF is becoming of the “art” of DJing….SMH!

Technics claims they’re bringing out the new deck to regain relevance in the era of “the new dance music movement”. It doesn’t take usb, cds or records,” explained a Technics’ spokesperson, “it basically just sits there acting as a focal point, and fuels the debate around the use of technology in DJing. This is the next gen of DJing equipment and it seems to focus the skills of those using it.” This very focus might explain Technics new Technology Philosophy: Never Ending Pursuit for Perfection through Innovation.

Described as “the most middle class deck yet”, so that you won’t run into the trouble DJ Bilal (Martin Lawrence character in ‘House Party’) did when the “Play Mobile’ got loaded down with bulky equipment. Friends will wonder how you actually work it. This is what new school doesn't appreciate...

Called the Technics Pedantic Chin Stroker, the deck will surly stir up debates based on the formats of music rather than DJing skills. A Technics spokesman refers to the new era DJ as “Keyboard warriors, basically…That’s our market now.” The Chin Stroker is expected in stores next summer. Book your gigs thru 2016, because its about to get cut throat out here.

So how do we battle against this?  We take it back “old school!”  DEMAND VINYL!  Utilize record pools as they were intended. Remember the crackle of the sounds that you heard when you put the needle on the record? Now its a sound effect for the push-play DJ. But that shit right there let you know…HERE COMES SOME GOOD MUSIC!

Do you know how to tape off a record? Would you even know how to began to organize a crate?  The artistry of DJing live?…All errors are heard.  Are you good enough to be under that type of pressure?

Come on DJ…spin that shit!
