It's a CYPHER!

Four days into the New Year and the grind never stops. While shooting the cover for one of our upcoming issues, I received a text to check out a cypher.  A cypher? Here in Dallas...yes, this proves that hip hop is alive in these streets. Erbane Galore invited us to a corner studio in the heart of Deep Ellum.  To me this was a new thing, but by the looks of the turn out and unbeknownst to me this had been going on for weeks. Nope, you can't come and hang out and smoke. This set is professional, televised, and willing to help the Indie artist. True hip hop at its finest. I walked in camera in hand and saw 5 MC's and 1 DJ...not to mention the fans. Resident DJ Campus King Newport turned on his self produced track that immediately had the audience bobbing their heads. Erika and Nitty instructed the rules of the cypher. No profanity, everything must be clean or your ass is cut. Spit your 16 bars and pass the mic. The environment was exhilarating. The fans and artists were supporting each other. They came together as one unit.  The more I am in these streets, the more I learn of opportunities like this. Inspiring artists must take advantage of this and invest in their future. Every aspect of this business has a dollar attached to it, would you rather have that new pair of J's on your feet, drank in your double cup, and bag of smoke OR would you rather work your way to the top and have it all?

It's #ALMEdia
