Bet cha didn't know...

Ok let me tell you. Today I was catching cabin fever so I decided to venture out to the mall. A girls favorite place!  But, I didn't quite make it, something caught my attention outta the corner of my eye. So I opted to shift my focus to this magical, nostalgic place. Once I arrived, I was on a mission. I just knew what I wanted to see!  Once again... I was distracted. It was a gold mine...better yet, a DJs gold mine!  The angles began to sing 'ahhhhhh!' Let's just say if you have Technic 1200's this is the place for you. From Sammy Davis Jr's 'Gotta Be Me' album through one by Bird Man that missed my radar.  I found much more in between and I'm sure mama played quite a few of 'em during Saturday morning clean up time. These classic pieces of vinyl came at classic prices. Not the kind of prices you would hear at an auction it was quite the contrary.  They made me say "damn... I can rack up in here." I'm sure you are wondering where I am with old wax and inexpensive prices. We will get to that to in a minute. As I dug through the crates, my initial mission faded to black!  I came across Straight Outta Compton LP with Easy E, Ren, Yella, Dre and Cube. My excitement was climactic!  What started on vinyl, this generation had to discover through iTunes and Spotify is such a shame.  Not to mention if the algorithms are just right you might be able to hear 'Fuck The Police' on Pandora... but here I am holding this album, Ruthless Records 'The Worlds Most Dangerous Wrecking Cru' that was released in 1987!  As I delve further,  OMG... It's Tupac's 'Brenda's Got A Baby' single on vinyl!  Then I began to search for hip hop icons. This led me to what is now and forever going to be my morning theme song...a mint condition LL Cool J's tribute to Def Jam "I'm Bad." And YES, I do have a turn table!  So it will be no problem for me to get my new theme song into my iTunes. All my DJs and producers out there, if you are looking for that original sound or beat make your way down to Half Priced Books. They will most likely have it.  -LMac
